a lady here in OK has one she used twice when she bought it..decided it was NOT for her and it has been in a closet ever since... she is asking $500 for it... any thoughts, comments, suggestions??? I am looking for something to use just for FMQ! |
well, it looks a lot like my juki... same size throat, fast stitches, thread cutter. but it doesn't have the needle threader that i can't live without :) i loved my juki for piecing, but then put it on the frame and don't really take it off. if there are no issues mechanically, then i'd say that's a great price.

Interesting. I didn't know you could buy a new staight stitch only machine. That's a plus for accurate quilting and the vertical bobbin is a plus for FMQ. The thread feeds directly to the needle with those. 8.6" throat area is quite generous. Looks like it has possibilities.

A friend just bought and it is almost identical to my Juki 98-TLQ and 2010 excluding the needle threader. Never been able to get my needle threader to work and many I talked to have same issue with Juki so don't hold that against it. We've sat the machines side by side and they are pretty much equal in use and design. I have a 98TLQ for piecing and a 2010 on my frame and I think it's a pretty even machine. If you can get it for $500 I'd jump. Any chance you can sew with it prior to sale and make sure everything works?

Juki still makes a straight stitch only machine - they discontinued the 98 but the new 2000 and 2010 are both straight only. I think this was designed to be same basic use.

I have one and I love it. I have quilted up to queen size on it with no problems at all. Until I win the lottery and can afford a longarm, this machine is a joy to quilt on. If you have any questions about it, PM me.

my DH has just bought me a little gracie with the PQ-1500 and now i've got the tension sorted (im used to auto tension with a Janome) i'm loving it. my FMQ on my janome was less than average but with the increased speed of the 1500 my curves seem much much smoother. It did come with a juki 1/5 inch darning foot which seems to be the recommended foot for FMQ, theres a yahoo group specifically for the PQ1500/s
