Question for you experienced quilters

I have come back to quilting after a 20 year period. I am setting up my sewing room and am interested in your thoughts on the best (non-long arm) sewing machine to do free motion.

hello and welcome from Michigan. I have a Janome 6500 that has a 7 inch harp that works for FMQ and also a Janome 11ooo+ with a large harp that works well for FMQ. These are both domestic machines.

Hello from Oklahoma and I have a Confident Quilter by Singer that sews and quilts...And I do most of my quilting with this machine. I've even done a California King on it, I struggled but I did it...LOL

Hello and welcome from West Virginia. I wish I did quilting myself, but I save up my money and sent it out to a long armer. There are many on here who do their own though. If you don't get many responses in this section of the forum, you should post the question in the section called "main" and put most of your question in the the subject line like "what machine do you use to free motion quilt?" or something. You will probably get more responses. Enjoy your quilting life!
