Judy Niemeyer Quilts
Have you done one of Judy Niemeyer quilts? Did you take a class first or did it on your own? How difficult was it to do? I love the look of her quilt designs and would love to do one. I would take a class if I could find one relatively near by. Denise

Since this was the first time I tried paper piecing, I chose one of the easier Niemeyer patterns. The instructions were very clear and simple to follow. I had no trouble following the pattern without any help. I never felt like I needed a class for this quilt.
Give it a try. |
I'm working on her pattern The Forth of July. I only do a little each day as I have other projects in the works, but so far the pattern and directions have been easy to follow. It looks complicated but if you can paper piece it is pretty easy.

Elise I love the colors you used in your quilt. It is a pretty quilt and you did nice work. I have done a little paper piecing. Thanks for your input. and also thanks for your input ,ontheriver. It gives me more confidence I could do one of her Judy's patterns

Glacier star. It is second on the list after I finish my blocks for the swap. The foundation papers are a little pricey, but......you gotta do what you gotta do.

Elise, your quilt is beautiful as is your yard.

I too choose an easier quilt and used the freezer paper method and loved it. Her patterns will say "good for a beginner"etc., I would try one of those first.

I love Judy Niemeyer patterns. One of the first quilts I did was her star burst. It turned out beautiful, and was easy to do. The hardest part was removing all the paper after it was finished. Actually, it wasn't hard, it was just boring and messy.
Our LQS does her Cactus Rose in a beginner quilt class. |
I love Judy's patterns!! Yes, a bit pricey, but you also get the foundation papers with the pattern. I also had the opportunity to bring her to a local guild as a guest teacher. She is very laid back and a lot of fun!! The Glacier Star is on my list~~

Your quilt is beautiful and so is your yard.
I'm about to search for some of Judy's patterns. I never used one, nor have I ever paper peiced. |
