How to achieve tea dying without the tea?

How do you achieve tea dying without using tea? I had always used the tea, but just found out that the acid in the tea will eventually eat away the fabric. Do you use dye and what brand and what color? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Ritz, the dye maker, has a product just for this and it isn't as harsh on the fabric.

Try a search on the QB or the net.

I tea-dyed 20 years ago and the fabric is still holding up well after many washings. There are many, many pages on google for this purpose.

Ritz makes a really nice tea dyed dye.

Use tan by Ritz. Word of warning. Be sure the entire quilt is wet. Remove from washer, prepare tan wash and then add the project. If you do not, the tan will not be evenly distributed over the project.

I think you can do the same with coffee.
