A newbie needs help
 

I am finishing the binding on my first quilt with invisible thread from my lqs; however, after sewing a couple of inches, the bobbin thread jams up and i have to stop to "free" the quilt from machine with a seam ripper! When i test the stiching on scraps, no problem. I am using a singer scholastic 5523. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I think I've read on the board to use the invisible thread only in the top part and use regular thread in the bobbin. That's how I do it and I'm only using a basic Brother machine. Good luck and keep us posted!

Try testing with a small piece that is actually the binding rather than just fabric. You may see where you need to adjust the machine. Suggestion above is a good one.

Use regular thread. There's no real reason to sew binding on with invisible thread.

Your machine might be throwing temper-tantrums over the bulk. Have you tried a new needle?

I have used invisible thread in the bobbin with success. You may have to adjust the tension as it is a bit fussy. Try rethreading the machine or rewinding the bobbin as invisible thread has a tendency to stretch when used.

I never use invisible thread...it is basically fine gauge fishing line and that stuff can cut thru metal...there are many wonderful thread out there that do not damage your machine...as a repairman...

It is too much trouble to thread a needle with invisible thread. I can't hold onto it and I don't like to feel it against my skin - too rough.
