Question about Mug Rugs

Could anyone tell me if it's possible to use Insul-Brite in a mug rug in place of batting? Are there any reasons why either one is better than the other for that use?

I use batting scraps....I don't have any insul-brite scraps:) Just call me "cheap"!

if you have scrap insulbrite you want to use-go ahead- people seldom would purchase it new for mug rugs- mainly because it is expensive and scrap batt is the (norm) but if you want to use it- it's your project- use what you want= there are no 'rules' about it.
personally i make mine without batting- either with a layer of flannel or even just muslin- i like them flat---or i make them out of wool- then no center layer is needed.

Thank you for the info. I happened on a great sale last year on Insul-Brite (60% off) so I bought 10 yards. I think I have enough to do all the projects I have planned for it.

You need to remeber not to put Insul-Brite in the microwave like I sometimes do with mug rugs.
