wearing tools around neck

I wear my little snippy scissors and my purple thang on a ribbon around my neck. This works well for me, BUT I'm finding myself dropping things that are NOT on a ribbon! Just had to pick up my ripper cause when I was done I just dropped it on the floor! Crazy. Wonder how many ribbons I can wear. :)

Jan at Christmas another member posted some vests she made :) Had pockets and connectors for everything  LOL Might be worth a look at

Gravity tends to win, you know. :)

I don't wear scissors or anything else around my neck because when I sit down and the "girls" head down to the naval base where they like to hang out something always gets poked or scratched. LOL

I had my little pair of thread snips on a ribbon around my neck until one day....I bent down to pick something up off the floor and on the way up my ribbon caught on the bottom drawer pull of my treadle. After almost giving myself whiplash, I decided to abandon the ribbon and go back to hunting for my tools. The vest sounds like a way better option for me. Who knew the sewing room could be so hazardous?

I tend to wear a tape measure around my neck, especially if I am hand piecing something. I have found that my little granddaughter (18 months old) will find one and do the same thing. She even does it when she isn't around grandma.

i have the harmony cable needles with the tiny grooves to help hold the yarn...i tied a necklace of yarn round the end so i know where the cable needle is every time i need it... love it... i was forever dropping them down my chair before...

I made myself a quilted chatelaine after meeting a Japanese lady on a train. She was making one and we got talking. She sent me the pattern and it is a good gift to give to friends. It actually looks a bit like a priest's scarf with pockets and scissor holder, pin cushion etc. Perhaps something similar might help you.

That's a great idea jitkaau! Maybe you could share the pattern or do a tute.

I second the idea -- please share the pattern with us..
