Goodwill Auction Site Has Fabric

But no matter where you live, there are some great things on this site - including a Featherweight that looks really good. It's missing a shank but you can get parts for these machines easily enough.

They may have some great items, but by the time you calculate their shipping which I feel is high, and add a 5 percent buyers fee, sometimes they aren't as good a bargain as they first appear to be. For example shipping of $6.15 on embroidery floss at the 1lb shipping rate, you most likely could get it all in a flat rate box for less. Just my two cents worth for the day. I didn't see anything I would consider the price worthwhile on when I went out there to look, but maybe I am too frugal and others aren't.

I feel the same way! so won't be buying anything from Goodwill that has to be shipped!!

Perhaps not all Goodwill shipping centers are equal. I bought a Bible from an Oregon center for a total including shipping of $4. The same Bible on Amazon was $12.00.

I bought my first white Featherweight on the Goodwill site. I paid $185 total; including shipping.

I've had the same experience - if I want to buy something from the site, I just automatically figure it's going to cost me double. One way to get around the shipping cost is to narrow your search to only your local Goodwill - they do allow you to pick things up.

I agree. Things I have looked at on site the shipping has always been crazy high. I wanted to get a pair of earrings until I say the shipping was over $10 granted they were coming for CA but still. First class with insurance and delivery conformation didn't come close to that.

I purchased some fabric from them quite some time ago, and I almost never got the cigarette smoke smell out of it! I'm not saying it would all be like that, but I just don't want to take the chance.
