suggestions please for small monthly wall hangings
I'm designing a series of small monthly wall hangings. They'll be about 10 x 20. So far I have hearts for February, kites for March and umbrellas for April. I'll do some sort of flowers for May, pencils for September and I think I'll do candy corn for October. I'm not sure yet about November and I think I'll do fancy ornaments for December and probably a snowman for January. The months I'm having the most trouble thinking of ideas for are June, July and August.
I'm thinking about "A Year in Scraps" for the name of the series. |
For June, you might want to do something about brides, as there are so many that get married in June. Also, kids getting out of school, going on vacation. For July, maybe do something about the 4th, fireworks, etc. August has me stumped, maybe someone else has an idea.

Assuming that this is a project that you are doing for yourself, not to sell commercially, take a look at the descriptions for the following books that follow a calendar theme: Kim Schafer's "Calendar Quilts," "A Year in the Life of Sunbonnet Sue," by Christine Porter and Darra Williamson and "Art to Heart - Count On It." Have fun!

For Aug. what about the "Dog Days of Summer" ?

I am doing wallhangings for every month, but I bought a book. For June it has watermelon with ants walking away with bits of it. July has a flower pot with stems and instead of flowers it has stars! Looks cute. August has a bee hive with two flowers beside it and bees around it. And November has a turkey with leaves falling around it. Hope this helps.

Great idea ... and I like your "Year in Scraps" name!
June ... is Dairy Month! So how about a cow! :) July ... For Americans, wouldn't you do RW+B for the 4th of July? ... or if you didn't want that, perhaps at the beach? August ... corn on the cob November ... American Thanksgiving, so a Turkey; In Canada, poppies for Remembrance Day (not sure about USA?) |
August sounds like picnics to me, or a large sunflower

How about a boat on a lake for August? We always spend part of August at the lake.

Anymore, August is "back to school!" for the kiddoes...

August makes me think of a beach with a bucket and shovel...
