Do you have to use Olfa blades in Olfa rotary cutters?

I've got an Olfa rotary cutter that I love, and just changed my blade, using a Fisker's blade. My cutter will not cut properly now...it shimmies back and forth. I haven't paid attention before if I have always used Olfa blades or not, so I'm wondering about it.

Are Olfa rotary cutters fussy about blades? Do you have to use genuine Olfa blades?

Thanks!

I have never had a problem changing blades. Make sure it is in properly.

I use both blades on mine but have to be sure the round spring is in the right way...hope that makes sense.

Make sure you you have the washer and nut on properly. Whenever I have had a problem, either I had the washer in backwards or the nut was too tight or not tight enough. I think you can find directions on the Olfa website if you're not sure.

One time I put two blades in, instead of one. That made a strange cut.

Thanks for the help. I went to Olfa's website and watched the video that shows how to change your blade. I discovered that somehow I've lost the small washer. I emailed them to ask if I can purchase another washer. If not I'll have to buy a new cutter. Least I know what's wrong now! Thanks again!

I use any brand of blade. For the past year I have been using the blades from Harbor Freight. I bought a bunch online when they were on sale and can't tell the difference between them and the more expensive name brand blades.

I use blades & cutters of different brands. A lot of blades come in packs of 2. Make sure you have only one in.

Olfa should send you a new washer free. I use all brands of blades in all my different brands of rotary cutters. I buy when on sale no matter what the brand.

I use Gingher blades in my Olfa cutters. Lately my blades have been dulling pretty fast so I thought I would switch and see how they work, man its like cutting thru butter.
