what did I buy for $32.00
I found a machine in a nice cabinet, at a Salvation Army Store.......for $32.00 total cost (tax, etc included)..it is a light brown/tan color and I think it looks like a 301. I can't do a photo as I am not at home and can't take a picture. I didnt even have time to plug it in, or even look really closely at it, as we had an emergency in FL and were on our way the early am after I got it........ but I think, with the color, and the way it looked, that is may be a 301. I had three different employees tell me that it works.........it looked clean, no rust showing, and the cabinet is in good shape, had a small nick on the back leg, and a small nick on the inside top, where the top of the machine would rest, if it was just folded over... the cabinet has "french" curved legs........ did I get a good buy here?

If it's a 301, it should have the number on the front of the machine. If it is a 301 you got a good deal if the bobbin case is there. If you have to replace the bobbin case you got an o.k. deal. Because a replacement will cost you $35-50.

Will you use it?
You can hardly get dinner out for what you paid for the machine, so to me it's a great deal! I'm amazed at how little a nice condition sewing table sells for... Have you seen the prices of fake wood end tables and behind the couch tables?? |
Does the machine have a "flip up" bed on it? If so, it's a 301. If not, it's possibly one of the 400/500 series machines, and still not a bad buy!
The cabinet with the curved legs is a "Queen Anne" style #40. :) |

I would be willing to pay that much for the cabinet alone, sounds beautiful.

I was thinking the cabinet was worth the money, if the machine doesnt go......I need a cabinet for my 1919 that is pictured....that was why I really was looking around .... but this little machine looks really good...soon as I get home to check it out more, we will know......they also had a very dirty little machine in a case, that was green...didnt get a good look at it tho.....no idea about price either........I was amazed to find 2 machines in the one thrift store, seems like I never see that around here... |

Congratulations and can't wait to see a picture of it. Have a safe trip.

Will anxiously wait for you to return home so we can all learn about your machine.
I think a cabinet in that condition is worth that price. So I would say you got a deal. |
