Janome Horizon Memory Craft 12000

Hi it is our 40th wedding anniversary coming up and my husband said he would save up to get me one of the above machines for me as I would like to get into embroidering on some of my quilts.
The working area on this machine look awsome and would alow more moverability. Have any of you got one, if so are they worth the money ?
I currently use a Janome 2032 and have had no real problems but I am now finding it a bit restrictive.
Your overwiew on the Horizon 12000 would be of great help.
Thanks.

I don't have that one. When I'm in a shop that sells them, all I can do is drool on it. I do own - the Janome 9000, 10000, just recently purchased a gently used 11000. I love those machines! I really don't think I would ever purchase a different brand of machines.
You may want to go to a shop that sells this brand and check them out. I was amazed at the difference in size of the throat from the 10000 to the 11000 machine. The thing I like about the machines that I own, is that the embroidery unit is attached to my machine. With the new 12000, it is separate. It does do much larger designs then the ones I have. Again, go and check them out. Have fun shopping and let us know what you decide.

I own both the Horizon 7700 and the 12000. The only thing I don't like on the 12000 is the walking foot is an attachment, after being spoiled rotten with the 7700 drop down walking foot (and being a previous 6600 owner, I really like the built in AcuFeed).

What I like about the 12000, is the 9mm stitch width, the design your own stitch, and the embroidery is lovely and easy to learn to do. You have to ask yourself, how much embroidery will I really do, or will a non embroidery machine fit my needs, and then go with the non embroidery Horizon. For the 12000, if you do other sewing other than quilting you may have to buy additional feet in the 9mm size, as the ones for your other Janome wont fit with those wider feed dogs.

My husband just bought me the Horizon 12000 at the end of January. I love it. I have only done a few embroidery projects. I need to finish some quilts I have promised.

Thanks guys, I have a very special project in mind and the embroidery on the 12000 and the capabilities regarding plugging it into a laptop would be a great Boon. This special project is a wall hanging of our family tree so being able to embroider all the names would be special and it would be a very unique work.

Hi....nice to chat with someone here in the Uk.
I have the Janome 6600 and the 11000SE. Both were bought from a dealer second hand and are in beautiful condition.
The combined cost of both has cost me just over £2000 which is less than half the cost of the 12000
The 12000 is a really beautiful machine but there are a few of things that I am not over keen on
1. You have to scroll through screens to find the stitch you want (the 6600 has a flip display and I can see all the stitches instantly.
2. No accufeed as standard...wonderful addition to quilting
3. The embroidery attachment is seperate so you can only do sewing or embroidery.
4. It is also huge and heavy to take anywhere, even from one room to another.

Embroidery is a great hobby but there are a couple of things to think about....you need threads, stabaliser and most importantly software...Softwrae can be very expensive. Janome has a basic softwrae that is about £250 and then there more detailed is about £900 I think....If I was buying the 12000 I would hope the dealer would do a deal.

Have you thought of getting the Horizon 7700 and a seperate embroidery machine....I think that would be my dream combination.

These are just my thoughts....whatever you get it will be amazing and what a lovely husband you have....Happy Anniversary

My husband go me the 12000 in March. Love the way it sews and embroidery. It was too big without the embroidey attachment for my cabinet I used for the 11000 but my dh and a friend fixed it. It is a great machine (should be for the price!) I didn't want him to trade my 11000 but an so glad he did. I have a MB4 for embroidery and use both. I have a hard time hooping a towel or the 12000 - does anyone have this same problem?
