Insulated batting vs regular batting
 

I want to try to make me some new potholders with pretty fabric. I have read different views on this but wanted to hear from the wonderful ladies here.

How should I pad it, with the insulated batting or several layers of regular batting? I don't use it for microwave purposes, just to grab something that is hot or sit something hot on.

I use 3-4 thicknesses of Warm & Natural.

Thanks Dorothy! I like Warm & Natural and just bought some for a quilt I hope to finish soon. And that is what got me wondering if I could use regular batting layered instead of the insulated batting.

I use insulbrite in the center with a layer of cotton batting on either side. Alternatively, a layer of the silver stuff like ironing board covers in the center instead of the insulbrite. The insulbrite is made by the Warm Company and it has a silver mylar layer that reflects heat.

I use a few layers of Warm and Natural , but often use old towels .. since when I can't find a potholder I grab a towel and fold it.

I need new towels too. My kitchen supplies haven't been updated since we got married...almost 10 years ago. lol So you can imagine how rough they look.

I use Insulbright and a layer of W&N on each side of it. Works great!

I use 1 layer of Insulbrite in between Warm and Natural. Not sure that just W&N would be OK if the potholder gets wet.

Thanks everyone! I hope to get to JoAnn's or Hobby Lobby this coming week to get the Insul-Brite and work on some potholders while my DD is at her grandparents for a few days.
