Heading to Germany for work 9/23-11/11/2012
I'm heading to Germany for work. i've been there before. I bought my Pfaff Quilt expression 4 while i was there last time.
any ideas from those members located over there? i'm thinking of hauling my daughter who will also be there from 9/27/12-10/11/12 to Prague. She wants to see Paris but i can only take a weekend off. Seems too short a time for a trip to Paris. i'll be working in Landstuhl area and she will be visiting a friend near Dusseldorf. julia |
Enjoy! It's worth the time and the money. Europe has a lot to offer.
Take the trip to Paris, if possible take the bus tours they are offering. Saves you money and they show you around. I did it. It is possible to see Paris on a weekend. Believe me, you will be dissapointed, should you not take the chance. You are going at a wonderful time, they will have a lot of festivals during this time of the year. Check them out, it will be pleasant. Enjoy your trip and make the best out of everything, life is to short to not enjoy it. |
As they say, in for a penny, in for a pound. Enjoy your trip to the fullest.

Dusseldorf is 3 hours from Landstuhl (via Mannheim) via train.
Landstuhl is only 2 hours from Paris on TGV train (I think you'll have to change in Kaiserslautern). Or ... you each take the train from your respective cities and meet in Paris (probably easier, faster, and cheaper) DO IT!! |
I love that area!! Our son was born at Landstuhl 36 years ago! We lived on Ramstein Air Force Base. It was a wonderful 3 years of our lives.
|
YES! I, too, love the Landstuhl/Ramstein/Kaiserlautern area, lived there several years in the 1970s. My daughter was born there, too, in the Kaiserslautern Municipal Hospital - on the economy in 1970. We lived in the little village of Dansenberg, so sweet. Wish I were going with you!

I'd give my eye teeth for a weekend in Paris! It can be done. The metro is great, easy to navigate and there is tons to do even just a bit out of town via the metro. Be a tourist for the weekend and have a blast. You'll kick yourself later if you don't. Paris is one of my most favorite cities in the world.

This is a great thread and I hope you keep us posted, pictures too.
Germany is a beautiful country. One trip all we did was visit castles and countryside. I started school in Koblenz , age 3, preK.....Still have my report card. I agree with the majority, take the trip. I do the busses as well, saves me from having to look for directions and drive. Enjoy your work there. Guess lots of us military brats out there. Hugs |
I am so jealous. Love Germany, people, everything. Enjoy and keep us updated.
|
Not a military brat, but I did live in Germany 4 years - Berlin and Munich - and loved every minute. Have a wonderful time, and don't let a minute pass without DOING something!
