Singer Model 15 help

What is difference between the 15-90 and 15-91? I saw a 15-91 today in a great cabinet, machine had most of its gold trim, and the original receipt in the bench? Can you FMQ on this one?

AUQuilter,

The 15-90 has the external motor mounted on a bracket attached to the side of the machine under the hand wheel. The hand wheel is driven by by a belt.

The 15-91 has the potted motor built onto the back side of the machine between the hand wheel and body of the machine. The machine is driven by internal gears directly driven by the motor.

Yes you can FMQ on the 15-91. There is a thumb screw underneath the bed that you turn to stop the feed dog from moving.

The 15-91 has the vertical bobbin which works better for FMQ.

I didn't know about the thumb screw, so I always put a index card with a hole for the needle to go through and tape it over the feed dogs. The 15-91 is great for FMQ.

The 15-91 is awesome for FM. I bought one at am auction for $10 in a cabinet. It has saved me many times when my other machine was not working. It has paid for itself 200times.
