Cotton Lawn Fabric
Hello, I was shopping online and came across a great print for a binding that I need. When it finally arrived I noticed that it was different from cotton, it is lighter and has a bit of a sheen. I went back to the site looked it up again and noticed that it's called cotton lawn fabric. Can I still use it? Can anyone tell me more about this fabric? What is cotton lawn fabric usually used for?
Thanks. |
I always think of lawn as a summery dress fabric. i haven't seen any in a long time

I think of "London lawn", which is pricey and I believe is only 35" wide. It is thinner than common quilting fabric, but I think would work ok for binding. However, that use may not show off its finest features -- the drape and hand of a delicate fabric.

Thanks, I will save what I have and make something for my daughter with it.

Connecting Threads sell it. I bought some and it's very nice. Many are making quilts with it now.

A lot of people use it for nightgowns. I personally wouldn't use it for binding as it is a little finer and the binding gets the hardest wear on a quilt.
