What does your material stash look like?

Would love to see what your material stash looks like.
How many pieces of material do you have stored away?
And how many years of buying did it take to come up with your stash of material?

Haha I haven't been quilting for very long but I have about eight plastic file drawers full of fabric not to mention all the stacks and bags that are in various places in my room. Of course to be fair I did inherit a lot of it from my grandma who was an avid quilter. But I do buy a yard here or there almost whenever I go to a craft store. I'm always asked, "what are you making?" and then I have to say, "Umm, nothin'. I just like it."

I have been quilting for years, but very seriously since going out on disability..I had a decent stash of 2 plastic bins at that time...It has grown to 4 bins, and a hope chest full.....There are of course a box or two somewhere around here too!! Will be more organized now that I have just moved..My daughter bought a house and gave me a room for my sewing room!! I havew joined the fabric moratorium..hoping to use a lot of this stash!!

I have been quilting for about 6 years. My stash consists of 4 pieces of fabric in a small bin, a stack of 5" squares to be used soon and a drawer of batiks cut in odd shapes. Having any sort of clutter or too much stuff makes me nervous. Therefore, I have very little. I prefer to buy for each project and then when I have a number of scraps, I use them up quickly in a scrap quilt.

I have been quilting for about 4 years now and have about 8 large tubs. Last year when I divorced I moved from a house to a small apartment and had to give up lot. Well, I did. But not the fabric. Not one scrap. Luckily, the new place has a large living room and a small bedroom ...so my stash is spread out.

Ditto on this. I didn't think I had that much fabric until I started putting it up on shelves and found things I didn't know I had. I'm trying not to buy any more fabric or start any more projects until I get caught up. Except for my monthly embroidery and software classes. That counts as education so that I need to do. Some on here would make some of the small quilt stores jealous with thier stash.

I have been collecting fabric since high school...graduated in the mid sixties....of course a lot of it is garment sewing fabric. As for quilting fabric...I started quilting about 8-9 years ago...I am a fabriholic and have to see and touch each piece...LOL I have clear plastic boxes full of quilting fabric. 5 large boxes with the colors sorted and coordinated ( less than a yard each) . I have 1 box with Christmas fabric only, 1 box with fall fabric only, 1 box with kitchen prints only, 1 box with panels only. 24 boxes with 1 or more quilts in each (in the beginning stage, uncut). One six foot shelf with backing fabrics only, 1 six foot shelf with yard cuts only, 1 shelf with flannels only, 1 shelf with batting only....1 dresser with Batiks and specialty prints only. This not all the fabric I have, but I'm sure I have gone on long enough. LOL,LOL

I've been quilting for almost 30 years and have worked at a LQS for 5 years. You'd think I would have a house full of fabric by now, but my entire stash fits in a 7-drawer dresser. I really need to go through it and get rid of some stuff, especially the old "Wal Mart" fabric.

I tend to buy when I'm starting a new project, very rarely do I buy fabric without a purpose for it.

I was just getting organized in my new room that my son closed in for me that had no inside walls or windows yet when one of our daughters and her family needed a place to stay a few months soooo back into boxes everything went. Right now it is all over the house in whatever spot it would fit in for the moment. The dry wall is going up in the room now but it will not be my studio for several more months now.
As for my stash, compared to what I see on here it is nothing.
