Accuquilt go or Baby Accuquilt

Has anyone purchased one of these and how do you like it. I do lots of strip quilting and art quilts. What would you recommend? Is the money well spent? I see the dies are quite pricey. Thanks for any input.

I have the Go Baby and love it. I wish the LQS would rent out the dies for a couple dollars so you would not have to buy some I know I will only use once. I have a few freinds the have the reg. Go, so we all keep track of what each of us have and do some borrowing.

I bought the Accuquilt Go several years ago and have used it twice. I have a bunch of dies to go with it that I just"had" to have. Could kick myself for spending all that money. When I first bought it, between that and extra dies it was over $800. With the dies I bought afterwards, I probably have well over $1200 invested, and it just sits there and collects dust. Live and learn.

Copied my comments from another post from about a week ago.

I won a Go Baby cutter and had to pay for the dies. I think the cost of the dies is way overpriced. Unless you are wanting hundreds of a design from the same die, it is a waste of fabric and money. Mine is sitting in the closet now and not likely to be used again.

I have the Go and my guild has several Go Baby and one of the Studio. The Go Baby is limited in the dies that will go run through it. The Go has all the quilt dies I could ever use. I really enjoy the Go, it makes cutting the fabric a fast easy job. My guild cranks out quilt kits using the Studio for members to take home to make donation quilts. I personally don't think the Go or Baby dies are a big expense. I ordered a dozen of each mat I use the most when I found a sale so I haven't bought any in the last two years. I have very little fabric waste, not big enough to save but for stuffing. Accuquilt gives away a Go or Go Baby once a week on their Facebook page.

It like any gadget one buys has a specific purpose....I have a go and many dies. It depends of the project I am working on if I will use it/dies or ruler/rotary cutter. If it's a lot of one cut then I wll, if just afew then no. But, I must say if I want to make my own "kit" then it certainly saves lots of time. I don't mind buying it, but you do have to shop around for the best prices!

I couldn't make quilts without my GO due to health problems. It's the greatest thing since sliced bread to me.

I bought one for my mom and she likes it, her Senior group gets quite a bit of use from it. However for the type of quilting you are doing (Art and strip) I am wondering if a June Taylor Strip Cutter wouldn't be a better deal for you. I have the one that cuts in 1/2" increments (didn't like the one that cuts in 1/4" or 1/8") and also the one to cut 2-1/2" strips (much pricier). I think that Joanns has both or at least the first one and you could get it on sale or with a half off coupon.

I love my GO and have used it quite a lot. I have purchased dies from individuals and from places besides the Accuquilt site. There are sales on dies quite often. I search the web if I want a specific die and do my best to get it at the best price. As far as purchasing the BABY or the GO, I would get the GO if possible. Amazing as it seems, I got my GO at a garage sale for $80. It was practically brand new, maybe only used once.
