Can I make a quilt out of 16 inch linen napkins?

I have 12 16 inch napkins. Is it possible to make a quilt out of them and what kind of material should I use? Thanks a million

Sure you can. I used linen in a quilt along with regular cotton before and it turned out great. You will have to check the weave though - some linens are looser weave than others and may distort. If they are plain colored, you could do applique on them or embellish them with embroidery. You can sash them and add a pretty border. The options are endless.

They should make a really pretty quilt. Next time you go fabric shopping you might look for a coordinating linen or faux linen to put with them, either as additional blocks or as sashing.
Unless they have a perma press finish they may wrinkle more easily than you are used to and require a higher setting on your iron.

If you have polyester napkins, after sewing them together, use fusible batting by June Taylor. It will stick to the material and you won't have to pin. Then you can embellish with trim or stitching. If they are thinner material, try using flannel on the back [for body]. If there are spots on them, cover them with applique. Probably you will want to cut off the hems so the seams lay flat. Have fun!!!!!

Shop the linen section and find a solid or print that matches to use as sashing. Or for that matter, choose any quilting cotton that you think would look good as sashing.

You might also check your local thrift store for additional napkins/table cloths to help create your quilt.

Certainly. I'm considering one out of tea towels - the souvenir ones collected during family trips.
