Quilted Coasters
I am planning on making a wedding quilt, but that is another thread. I just had an interesting thought. I could make matching quilted coasters as favors.
Do 4.5inch patches with stripes of the three main colors of the quilt. Do a patch of muslin on the back. Do hand written names/wedding date on the muslin. Iron set. Sew inside out with batting leaving a hole to turn right side out. Turn rightside out, iron flat. And quilt!! Only catch, I need to make ~200 of these. |
I have made some criss cross coasters, this one is like the ones I made; http://patspattering.blogspot.com/20...-tutorial.html
You could use the three colors, and in the 4th use muslin with the wedding information. Also the pattern uses 5", but I do not see why you couldn't use 4.5". They do go together fast, but 200 (no matter how you look at it) will take some time. Found the pattern I had used; http://allsorts.typepad.com/allsorts...ross_coas.html |
Wow! Those look so cool and easier than what I was planning. I think I might do this instead. My main colors are Royal Blue and Sunflower Yellow. I'm going to use a light patterned white as a filler in my signature quilt and muslin as the signature squares. I think I may just use the yellow and blue for the front and the muslin for the back with the info. I want them to be able to use the coasters and not have to display our wedding info when they do.

This is a lot of work. I have with many brides and have found out that many people simply do not place a high value on handmade favors. Sorry, but this is again, a lot of work and I would be unhappy if people didn't like them or value them as much as I would.

It IS a lot of work. You will have to really think about that one. Keeping in mind, some people will be blown away recieving these and am sure will want the ones that others do not want. Good luck.

Sounds like an ambitious plan-but a fun one. Just make sure people understand they are to take home and enjoy!
