quilting ideas for this quilt please...
 

Anne from this board sent me her template for her snowglobe block....thanks Anne, I've enjoyed making it. I decided to make it into a large lap quilt. The finished blocks are 12". I know that I want to do a stipple or a loop-de-loop in the white background & I think I will leave the globes alone to make them puff out. But, I'm at a loss as to what I should quilt in the red sashing & border. Suggestions will be appreciate. I'm a basic quilter, so don't get real technical or fancy :) And I'll will be quilting with white thread in the background. Should I change to red with the red fabric or will white be OK? Thanks, Debbie

I think a million little snowflakes quilted in the red sashing would be great but insane to do. :D So realistically, a meander behind the snow globes after outline stitching them would be great. Do you have a decorative snowflake stitch on your machine? If so could you stitch a line down the sashing? Try it on a sample sandwich to see if a decorative stitch will work if you enlarge your stitch length. You could also just do a SITD along the sashing with white thread just inside the blocks.

I like Tartan's idea of a million little snowflakes, too...now if I can just figure out a simple way to quilt little snowflakes. I quilt on a grace frame with a Juki. So, I have around 4" - 5" of a quilting path across the face of the quilt.

Oh if you could do snowflakes or circles , that would look great!!

Making a snow globe quilt is on my list of things to do. Yours is beautiful and I am envious to say the least. Thank you so much for sharing, maybe now I will get my own started. LOL

On itseweasytv.com episode 413 this morning they showed how to do snow flakes with the utility decorative stitches on our machines. She used the diamond and circles in a 6 cross line pattern. Turned out pretty.

Definitely snow flakes. I can barely do FMQ and I can do snowflakes- just link them all together and the sashing will be done in no time. How about a red embroidery thread? That would match the red, but be a little shiny to make the snowflakes sparkle!

A meandering 'snowflake' wouldn't be too difficult, and you could do it in white thread so it looked like snow. It's hard to tell how wide your sashing is, but you could even to 3 rows of small ones if it's wide enough. I would stagger them so it looked more random. Hope that helps! It's a cute quilt.
