15 91 belt or motor?
Hi I have been looking for a 15 91 singer machine and I seen some on ebay, Some have a belt and some a pot motor. but both say 15 91, do you think that the person with the belt driven machine has the wrong model number for that machine? or do some of the 15 91 singer have belts to run the machine and some a pot motor?
also could you tell me how larger the throat is on this machine, I have read that it is a good machine for FMQ.. Thanks |
Mine has the motor - no belt.

The 15-91 is gear driven, no belt. From the foot to the pillar is a smidge over 6.5 inches. There is a thumb screw under the bed that lowers the feed dog. I haven't tried FMQ so I don't know how well it works.

If it has a belt it is not a 15-91. Don't hold me to this part because it is early and I may have the treadle and the belted models backwards: 15-88 is a treadle, 15-90 is belted and 15-91 is gear driven by the motor.

It's not uncommon for E-Bayer's and Craigslister's to make mistakes with machine model numbers.
The 15-91 has a potted motor ... no belt. |
I have 15-91, has the motor. 15-90 has the belt. When I was looking for mine, went online to see the difference in the two. You might want to do the same thing. There is alot of info out there.

Thank you all...I didn't think that the one that was on ebay that said it was a 15 91 and it had a belt was in fact a 15 91...but I wasn't sure.. I'll try and look up some of the models for the 15 and compair them..
pennycandy...I though that the 15 91 had a larger throat size then 6.5 thanks for letting me know the size of the throat, do you have enough room to quilt a large quilt on it? ...Thanks everyone for your help |
