Yard sale help
We are having a yard sale this weekend and I need some opinions please! I have some fabric that I am going to put in it. It is good quality flannel from JoAnn's. It is yardage, any where from 2 yards to 4 1/2 yards. It has never been washed. I have each piece folded and placed separately into zip-lock bags and labeled. I did buy the big 2 gallon bags to put them in. How would you all price it? I want to sell it and not bring it back into the house. I also have 1 gallon sized bags filled with big scrap pieces in them for $1 and $2.
And I have Singer Touch and Sew, which I know many people don't like at all. It is in a cabinet with bench. Is $20 to much to ask for it? It still works and come with accessories. |
Joann's sells flannel - online - for $3.49 to 3.99 per yard. People expect to get items cheaper at a yard sale. So I would price the flannel for 1/2 of this - or $1.75 to $2.00 per yard - but you might also add "or best offer." E-bay has a Singer Touch and Sew in cabinet on sale for $150 - so someone will probably snatch yours up for $20 right away. Good luck with your yard sale. Hope you sell lots of stuff and make some money to spend on what ever you want.

Remember to factor in the cost of your plastic bags.
What model is your Touch and Sew? If it's one of the 30- or 40- ones, many people really go after them. You might check the Vintage Machine section here for 'ratings' |
I would put the Singer at $50? Figure in cost of the bags and try $2 a yard? You can always reduce the price later in the day or if someone is interested you can knock a few bucks of the machine.

Thanks! I will go with just under $2 a yard. I love bargains and hopefully they will sell. I think the Singer is probably a late 1950's to early 1960's machine.

sewing machine from the 50's or 60's and in cabinet. and bench. with a few attachments. i would ask 50.00. and the fabrics 2.00 to 3.00. as said come down on price at the end.

I don't have a clue. I don't go to yard sales nor, do I have them. Good luck, I hope you sell everything.

I would go lower on the fabric. Also helps if you list some random uses for the fabric. Fire up their imagination!
