Mercerized thread sale.
 

I was going through Connecting Threads, threads and they are having a sale, I was wondering if mercerized thread would be good to use? I usually use either king tut or Aurifil to piece my quilts. Would it cause a lot of lint? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

I like both of the threads you mention, but I also like the Connecting Threads as well. I use King Tut for quilting only, and use Connecting Threads and Aurifil for piecing. I haven't noticed any difference between the Aurifil and Connecting Threads from a lint standpoint, both lint about the same. The Connecting Threads is a great product at a great price, which would leave more money for fabric!

All thread is mercerized. Its part of the process of improving the appearance, not performance. If a company is using mercerized in their ad, to me that means they have nothing else to promote about the thread. Its just a big word that means basically nothing.

If your used to using Aurifil you should notice quite a big difference. At least I do. I'm not talking about lint, although CT thread is some of the lintiest I've ever used. But the quality of Aurifil can't be beat and CT thread seems much heavier, thicker and has blobs and bumps. I use it in my vintage machines, but I don't use it in my fancy Bernina. My Bernina is in the hospital enough. I don't need to add to it's issues with lower quality thread.

I use Connecting Threads thread and have never had a problem. I use if for either piecing and for machine quilting.
