General Electric Sewing Machine

I won this at a local auction and will be picking it up tomorrow. I also won another 301. That makes me back up to 5 of them. LOL. I figured this GE was a gamble. I don't know if the bobbin case or bobbins are there and it looks like it needs some love. I read online the history of the machine. Anyone own one?

Yup. Neat little machine. I have two. One that I'm working on and a parts machine. Any questions?

Are they actually any good? This may be a parts machine too if it's missing the bobbin case. Any positives or negatives you can think of?

Let you know when ever I get around to test sewing on it. The motor is apart right now.

What kind of bobbins does it take or are they special to the machine?

I guess I should have added that to me it seemed that the hand wheel is a bit ridiculous. And the stitch length lever is in a odd place in that it will be covered by the draping fabric when sewing. It has no reverse. And think I remember that it takes a 20x1 needle. BUT it is 'as cute as a bug in a rug'.

I'll check on the bobbins.

So, a specialty size needle huh? Good to know.

Was your motor needing to be cleaned or did it have issues? I just couldn't pass it up and even though the decals look a bit worn I'm hoping it actually works! Sometimes the gambles work out, sometimes they don't.

Saturday I'll bring some needles and the BC and a bobbin if you need them.
The motor had issues. And I just haven't got back to it.

That sounds great. I'll let you know if it has the BC and bobbins. I hope so. Of course a working motor would be nice too:>

Did yours come with the case etc.?

I thought the same thing about the stitch length lever.
