what to do with very small scraps?
Hello! I went "shopping" today at several rummage sales. I found a bag of scraps that I can use for a ribbon quilt. There was also a small bag of 2" squares, already cut. What are your suggestions to do with the very small squares? Thanks for any suggestions!

It depends on how many you have. 2 patterns I can think of is the 0h My Gosh or Blooming 9 Patch but you will need more than a small bag.....a lot more.:D

Your scraps sound like they are all 2-inches square. Not sure this would work with just them, but I have been on a crumb quilt kick since seeing it written about on this board some weeks ago. I pulled all my tiny scraps (crumbs) out of the waste basket and for several weeks have been diligently sewing them together with other, slightly larger scraps to form 12-in blocks. Crumb quilting is seriously addictive (to the exclusion of several other project I had underway when this addiction began) and just plain fun. So I would advise adding the squares to your other small scraps and getting started! Have fun!!

Throw in a cushion.

Work a 16 patch, that's 8 rows across and 8 rows down. Then sash it so it looks like a frame. Make another and join them together. It will eventually be a quilt top or a doll quilt. Hugs

I would have loved to have picked up the 2" scraps. I am working on a quilt that I am using only 2" squares now. It is about 62" by 78" at the present time. I am aiming for a queen size quilt.

I save all scraps - fabric, batting, thread and use them to fill dog/cat beds for the humane society. I too buy bags of scraps at rummage sales or the thrift store and usually end up with some larger pieces that I just don't like or may be a knit or upholstery fabric. Between those and my scraps, I can make a pretty decent small pet bed.

this quilt was made with 2" scraps. Plus some white yardage of course.
