December 2013 block of the month - Florida Star - Directions and Discussion

Welcome to the last BOM for 2013, I hope you enjoy it. I chose this block because I live in Florida and it's another star. Also it will be Christmas, so it seemed fitting for our last block this year. Can't you just see this block done in Christmas colors of green & red? I can, but chose to keep it in my colors that I started out with. http://www.quilterscache.com/F/FloridaStarBlock.html so post your pictures when finished. I did some fussy cutting on mine just because I wanted too. It is paper pieced but I only partly paper pieced mine. ENJOY & Merry Christmas to all.

Thanks for the link, looking at template A says it is scaled to 97% so I tried to print it at 100% but need help please. I went into File-Page SetUP-changed the scale to 100% with no fit to page selected & printed, but the inside finished measurement of the square is just 3 7/8" not the 4" it needs to be, thanks for any help. I have windows xp if that makes a difference.

I don't know about XP, but I just bring up the template, go to print preview and use the scale above to change it to 100%. Another option would be to save the page to your documents then print, maybe. I know every computer is different, but if that doesn't work, maybe someone else has some other suggestion.

I have been trying to print out template A and now I'm having trouble getting it to print to the correct size, don't remember how I got it to print correctly 6 months ago. Anyone have help for those having the same problem now?

Hi there, after printing the B one fine as she had not scaled the pattern, I decided to try changing the set up on print to 103% and it has now printed template A at the correct size, hope this helps you too!

I'm glad that worked, I had tried 105% too much, 102% close, glad that 103% worked. I know I did not have to do that when I first printed out the templates. I only use the A template, did the other pieces without. So this answers the questions for others that are having the same problem. Thanks Thimblebug6000!

Nice block! Using Windows Vista, I copied both to templates to Microsoft Word then made the 2 template page line up with the 1 template page using my mouse to enlarge it to match. I printed both & verified 1" test square with my ruler.
Hope this helps.

I've had a terrible time getting mine to print. So much wasted paper and ink. It's still not right but very close. I figured I could get it to stretch a little to make it 12".
