can anyone tell me the pattern name for this, or if there is any "easy" way to do it? It looks rather like a string quilt, but is different. Please help! Thanks!

make 4 string blocks on the diagonal. place two blocks together with the diagonals going in the opposite directions. draw a line diagonally on the back of the top one and sew 1/4" on each side of the diagonal. cut down the center. do the same with the other two. now place the 4 new squares in a block with the pictured diagonals in the center. welcome to the board.

I think it's the 3 Dudes pattern:

LOVE the color combinations. So unusual. I would just do a lot of string quilt blocks making sure the center strips are not narrow. Then you cut half in half along the strips and the other half perpendicular to the strings. Not difficult. Just need a large selections of various prints.

Looks like Cozy Quilt Strip ruler pattern too.

Go to http://www.quiltville.blogspot.ca and click on the free patterns tab at the top of the site. Look through the pattern names until you find Strip Twist. The triangles are in different orientation but it is a nice detailed tutorial on how to make the units.

This is a fabulous way to make a quilt top. I do believe I'll be using up some of those strips from my stash.

The 3 dudes pattern is not an easy one for beginners in my opinion. It makes a pretty quilt, but I was very happy I chose to do a baby quilt. I found lining up all the seams was a problem for me, and have heard others with the same complaint. I really think one needs a little experience to do this one. JMO.

I was looking at my 3 Dudes quilt. I had trouble making that quilt because I used jelly roll strips. Unfortunately, the strips were very uneven. Some strips were 2 1/4" in the center of the strip instead of 2 1/2" as they were at each end. If I ever make that quilt again, I will cut my strips or check the width of the strips before I start. In spite of the problems, I love that quilt! I quilted it myself as I was embarrassed to send it to the LAQ. In a way, I am glad the quilt was not perfect because I kept it for myself. If you don't look at it to closely, the quilt is beautiful.
