I am looking to purchase an inexpensive embroidery machine. wondering anyone has any ideas of whats good and whats not....

It depends on what your budget is, of course. I have a Brother PE770. I just purchased The Machine Embroidered Quilt (an online class on Craftsy), and Eileen Roche suggests (as do I, since I've heard several people talk about this) that your embroidery machine have the 5X7 hooping capacity as a standard. That way you're not limiting yourself on embroidery patterns. My machine does also have the smaller hoop, and I recently bought the large hoop on Amazon. That's also where I purchased my machine. Happy hunting - there are lots of good choices out there. :)

There are many good machine out there. Check out all the different features you wants. Alot do not do a very large hoop, just depends on what will meet your needs.

The local dealers sometimes have used machines with good warranties at really good prices compared to what the machines cost new. Just be certain you can either connect the machine to your computer or better yet it has a USB so you can use a flash drive. Some of the older machines only took an embroidery card and those don't allow for as many designs as the direct connect and/or flash drive.

Really do your homework before making a purchase so you don't have buyers remorse. I have a janome mc 9500. Yes, It is much nicer to have the ability to use the flash drive however my machine works just fine. I can transfer designs from the internet without issue using a card reader. It is worth it to get a machine that has a 5x7 hoop, otherwise you will wish you had most likely. It really depends on your budget. I think the more you can and are willing to spend the happier you probably be with your choice.

I started out with a babylock allure, after 6 months I upgraded and am very satisfied but did have to fork over more money than I thought I would. the allure did not give me the option to see what my words said. I bought it to mostly make labels for my quilts! I soon found out I needed to do more with this expensive machine than just labels.

IT DEPENDS ON what you want to do you should check out ebay they have some inexpensive ones. I got one on there about 4 years ago it was a marie osmond and it was great

I did my research, talked with friends, tried their machines most had the Janome 11000. It runs used about $2,000-$2500 here in Texas. I thought that was a bit much for me so I found a Janome 350e, again used for $500.00. Found out real quick it was too small of hoops. So I sold it and bought a used 11,000 that the dealer upgraded to a version 3.2 and I love it. The shop I use gives free lessons if the machine is purchased through them as well as a years warranty even on used machines. Plus financing. I'd say go to a local dealer and 'play'.
