Not sure if any of you follow Vanessa Wilson who is the Crafty Gemini. I had found her on YouTube at least a year ago. She posts cooking, quilting, crafting, gardening videos. You can also find her on Facebook as Crafty Gemini.

Anyway....she had posted a picture of her sewing studio that she was trying organize the other day and somebody had posted their picture of how they had organized all of their fabric. This lady took a foam board and had her husband cut it up into 7.5" x 11.5" pieces. She then took each of her fabrics and folded them a second time along the selvage edge to make them only about 11" tall by the yardage she had. She attached each piece of fabric to one of her custom sized mini bolts and wrapped them around it. Now each piece of fabric could be placed on end on a shelf that has at least 12" of clearance and sorted by color. This is my next project!

Here's a picture that this lady uploaded of her new fabric shelf. Isn't this an awesome idea!!!

I use comic book boards for my stash

Yes, I found this idea somewhere last year. I have also organized my fabrics this way. I just love it. It is also a lot less expensive than purchasing the fabric boards. I can now see what I have in my stash. The only problem I have from time to time is finding enough foam board in the stores. When you have the schools with their school projects and quilters using these boards the stores seem to run out.

I used comic book boards as well. You don't have to worry about cutting or anything, they come in the right size! :)

I used cake boards from Joann or Michaels- just cut them in fourths. I used a coupon so they weren't too expensive.
