Large topstitch quilting........
 
could anyone direct me to information on how to quilt like it shows in this pic? Thanks for the help!!!!

Is it hand quilted? It looks like work my DM did on some of her hand quilting projects.

Looks like regular hand quilting, very neatly done. Just do a search on hand quilting.

I believe it is called " Big Stitch Quilting"? Try youtube to see if there is a video.

Beautiful quilt...Love red and white and the quilting is gorgeous. You could do machine with a 12 weight thread. Try a few samples first. Good luck.

If you Google "Big Stitch Quilting", you should find some books on this method. It is not topstitching, but rather hand quilting using thicker thread, a larger needle, and making larger stitches.

Fons and Porter had a show about wool quilts and showed them quilted in a style similar to that. They called it utility quilting.

I really didn't know what to call it but have now found lots of help under utility & big stitch quilting. Thanks for all the help- you guys are great!!!!

I call it utility quilting...and do it with pearl cotton thread and a chenille needle. Love the look...and how fast the quilting gets done!
