EQ Software

Does anyone use this? I just ordered EQ7, and am really excited about it. Would love to hear your experiences, tips, etc. , if you have used it. :)

I use it all the time and love it! Go through the lessons and then just play. I practice by looking at quilts and building the blocks in EQ, then experiment with different settings and color schemes. You can download additional fabrics from various fabric sites. I don't bother scanning in my own fabric, can always find something that's close enough.

i love EQ... don't think i could quilt without it. as dunster says. go through the lessons... invaluable.

Ditto the above. I love it but it does take time to learn. Enjoy!

I have owned it since Version 3, and it just keeps getting BETTER. Keep your book handy, do the lessons, join the EQBlog list. I use it to make paper piece patterns, color all my quilts, design layouts. I rarely buy any patterns, with EQ, I just do what I want to with an idea. Have fun!

I am an EQ lover too. I am just really learning how to use it even though I started with EQ5. I watched all the videos and just wasn't getting it. Rhonda's tutorials here on QB helped me a lot, but even though I could do some things, I wasn't confident. I bought the "EQ with me: Pieced Drawing" book at the IQF in Houston, Nov 2013. This book is really helping me with how to build blocks. I also, bought the "EQ with me: Quilt Design". As soon as I finish the Pieced Draw, I will start on Quilt Design. As you may have guessed, I am not the best at new computer programs, especially if they are like drawing programs. I'm only half way through the Pieced Draw and am drawing blocks much better than ever.

Same as qltgrose, I've had it since it was on floppy disc. It's the best quilting software you can buy. It's easy for beginners and advanced enough for professionals. I haven't used all the features of it.

Love EQ - and use it all the time. Good advice above - do the lessons join the blog (recently they had detailed lessons on drawing blocks). Still there is plenty to learn!!

Fabulous, then I feel great about the splurge ;) Thanks for the tips gals!

I love it but some find it difficult to learn. I agree with Dunster. Do the lessons and don't get discouraged. If you've used any graphics programs it might be a little easier to catch on.
