De Luxe Zig Zag N-201 Stradivaro?

My wife and I just bought this beautiful machine at a local thrift shop. I fell in love with the looks of it! It didn't come with much, but it seems to be in good working order and my wife has spent the day learning how to bend to its will. (The other way around doesn't seem to work out too well.. LOL) She has modern machines, but she's been wanting something with more Oomph to work with thicker fabrics and we're really hoping this will work for her. I've spent the day trying to find some place I could purchase a manual for it, and meanwhile she's been learning it on her own and she's pretty satisfied that she doesn't need a manual now. In any case, I'm still curious if anyone can point me in the right direction. The closest I've come are the manuals listed on sewusa.com and sewingmachinemanual.net but I still haven't found this one. Actually I haven't even found a clone like this.

Really, anything and everything you can tell me about this machine would be helpful!

In any case, here's some pics!

Thanks!!

Pat,

First let me welcome you to the QB.

OK, now for the record that is not a clone. It is a Japanese made machine, but not one of those considered to be clones. Those that are clones are the one that look like Singer 15s.

I have one very very similar badged ALDEN, and I've been looking for a manual for 2 years with no success. Have you tried Relics; { http://www.tias.com/stores/relics/ }, they have many manuals. Although they don't have one for my machine.

If that machine is like mine, it will sew circles around nearly any modern plastic wannabee machine.

Welcome aboard and while I can't help you, I just wanted to say I love that machine! All those chrome knobs and dials on it are just great.

Very cool machine. There are some generic manuals loaded on the Japanese vintage machine yahoo group. You have to join first to see them, but that group may be of some use to you.

Might not help, but here's another, tons of possibilities to browse through, realize it may be another name, like White or Dressmaker or Toyota or Universal or...you get the idea. Good luck!

At least there's someone else in the yahoo group with a photo of the same machine. Maybe you could ping them and see if they have a manual to copy/scan. Don't know if you can get to this without joining first, and even if you join, Yahoo has made its groups almost impossible these days. http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/v...box/1238430202

I have nothing useful to contribute....I just wanted to say that is such a cool machine. Love the design and the colour. Can't beat retro or vintage. All the best and hope you find the manual.
