A bow tie one way and an empty spool the other way Three squares in a row, triangles attached to each side of end s quares so for each bow you need 3 squares and 4 triangles This I am told is the simple way, but I am kind of new.........

Amy: Here are two sites from Delaware that have great instructions for constructing bow tie blocks. One is the 3D kind of which I've done a lap quilt. and the other one is the traditional block. Hope this helps.

I love that block, Here are my directions fairly simple. If i can not explain for your understainding let me know i will draw a picture then send to you.

You need 5 5" squares,
One square you will fold in half,
place the folded peice between two squares, now stitch the folded peice which is placed in top corner with fold side in . now sew the three peices together on one end then place the other end of the folded peice between two square,
this time pin the folded square at the front edge of the squares then sew together.

Thank you so much for this. Have been looking for it for quite a while now. Love the pictures as I'm a visual type of person.
