snap closure purse using metal tape measure
Just saw this purse at a show and interested in making. I've made the purse, however, I do not know how to install, measure, etc. the metal tape? Thanks, cquilts

Here's a link to her online tutorial (with lots of pics). I copied it into my files as it intrigued me too, but I haven't got around to making it yet. Have fun!

I have made about 35 "snap" bags of varying sizes. Be sure to round the ends of the measuring tape and cover with duct tape to prevent wearing out the fabric. There are many patterns from "Stitching Sisters" for different bags. They are fun to make and no one guesses what makes them snap back together.

Depending on how thick you tape is, I've been using 2 layers of measuring tape on each side. I lay them together and put the duct tape over the ends. This gives a stronger snap. Some of the measuring tapes are pretty anemic.

Thanks, Jo, for that link. PattyPurple, that's a great idea about using two layers of measuring tape for more snap. Thanks!

I cut the ends of the tape measures rounded and then wrap with Duct Tape.
