Alot of you talk of Leader/Ender quilts.

Leaders and enders are the scraps you sew together while you are making 'another' quilt.. its 2 sqs you sew so that you have something on your machine and not a loose tail for the next block..

Here i sewed 2x2 scraps... turned them into 4 patches and eventually i think 16 patches.. all from sewing the 2x2 as leaders and enders when my leaders and enders box got full..

Luvtoquilt, that is an excellent explanation and a totally gorgeous quilt! How long did it take to fill that box of leaders and enders?

Ginger,
not sure.. Sometimes ill just sew the eaders and enders when my boxes of sqs get too full.. I always have 2x2 sqs next to my sewing machine in a shoe box, ready for the grabbing.. and i always have scraps... I have an Accuquilt GO so when my scraps get out of control I tame them and cut them up to specific sizes.. But when i run out of 2x2 i move on to 2.5x2.5 and so on.. But i hardly ever run out of 2x2.. They seem to multiply in the dark..

Wow! Thanks! That was very cool! and now we know!

I keep a box of scrap squares by my machine to use as leaders and enders....usually make either 4-patches or 9 patches. After awhile, when I have lots of blocks, I will put them together into a quilt. Some of my favorite quilts have come from these blocks. It is a way to sew 2 quilts at a time without really thinking about the second quilt...just doing them inbetween the other piecing. The Quiltville site has a great explanation and lots of scrap quilt possibilities!

I am so glad you gave the website. What a great explanation and great ideas too. This board teaches us so much!

Gee Lynnie, I'm so glad you asked this question. I'll have to start doing that now.
