My 201-2 Cabinet Refinishing Project
 

an update: this cabinet refinishing is surely taking much of my time.

here's my before and after 201-2 cabinet refinishing. almost done and i will post the finished cabinet with my machine soon. i used the citristrip paint remover in a spray can. i will never use a spray paint stripper again. it's a pain to use a spray one as it splattered everywhere. just get the gel type or any kind that you will just brush. also after stripping all the paint, it is wise to sand them well and let it dry.

Not bad, looks quite presentable.

I've got a couple to do as well. Not sure I'll get to them this year.

joe - thanks. my first cabinet refinishing project ever. there's about 6 more cabinets that i need to work on and are waiting for me (2 whites, 3 singer treadle and 1 industrial cabinet). the hard part will be the 28 treadle that need some veneer work. i still need to check your postings on how you did yours.

oh by the way, since this was my first project ever, i decided to just use minwax polyshades. it's not a forgiving stain/poly paint. you need to be careful and need to do it right the first time.

thanks. took me awhile to get to this stage as i got sidetracked with so many vintage sewing machines i acquired the past couple of months. i still have 6 cabinets to refinish now. these projects will surely keep me busy for awhile.

Very nice job.
Stripping varnish type finishes isn't so bad. I hate stripping paint though. That's why the cabinet my 66 is in is still that nasty "antique" yellow instead of the nice walnut that I know is hiding under the paint. Besides, I enjoy using that machine so much, I would hate for it to be down long enough to refinish the cabinet.
