Amy's Creative Side Laptop Cover
Has anyone made this lovely case? I am stuck on the assembling, after sewing the velcro. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Is this from the free on line tutorial? If so, I might be able to help.

Yes! It is. I don't understand how to progress past sewing the velcro to the lining and exterior piece. Instrctions day-to-day at top and bottom, leave a 3/8"opening, etc. I cannot visualize this process. I am grateful for your help.

I looked over the pattern. She left an important step out. I revised the paragraph to be.....
Finally it’s time to sew up the sides! For the laptop case my pocket is 8.5″, the iPad pocket is 6.5″. Again trying it on your gadget is a great way to find the right pocket size. (Lay your quilted fabric on your table with good side up. You will be looking at the finished outside. Your seams & batting will be on the table. Lay your lining on the quilted fabric with the good side down. Right now, everything looks backward. Bhd) When sewing the lining, leave an opening in one side so you can turn it right side out. (Usually need about 5" opening. bhd) I used 3/8″ seam allowance when sewing up my covers. (Once you finish sewing and turn the project through the opening she says to leave, the good side will be on the outside again. Bhd) Hope this helps. |
It looks like Barb in Louisiana has come to your rescue!

Thanks! That makes sense. So the 2 layers are just sewn together "front to front." Then turned right side out. Then the pocket is created and the sides stitched up. Is this correct? I am grateful for your help.
