Input wanted-Quilt pattern ideas for 2 1/2 inch strips.Finished quilt 24 inches or so

I am making a small 24 inch quilt but have all 2 1/2 inch Bali pop strips to make it.

It seems most patterns for 2 1/2 inch strips are for a larger scale quilt.

I would like these quilt blocks to be more to the scale of a small 24 inch quilt.

I think 4-6 inch blocks would be more to scale but every time I find a block I can not figure out how to make it with 2 1/2 inch strips.

It would also be nice to have something that doesn't look like one big block or very strippy and obviously made of strips.

Tall order?

How about a lone star using the correct number of stripes. To fit the size.

I would go the same way as GailG. A lot of options with HST. Sew light to dark for definition and pattern.

Here's a tutorial on how to make HST from jelly roll strips. http://www.carolesquiltingetc.com/20...triangles.html

Also my first thought, or you could make teeny tiny 1/4 square triangles out of them.

Thank you all for the feed back and link for the 1/2 square triangles. Indeed a lot to be done with them and it will be to scale. I like the idea of a lone star too. I will sit down tonight and look into both. I do have the Quilt in the Day ruler they show. At least I think I do.

Thanks, auntpiggylpn, that's a great reference for hsts. Just put it in my reference file for future use. I love the way everyone is so generous in sharing the information they find online. Joyce in DE

You could make a braid quilt..can't for the life of me remember the name 100 % French braid or herringbone? It would be perfect fir strips. Quick and easy, too.
