Is this a good price for the accuquilt Go and 12" block set?
 

I got a email from sewforless advertising the Go and 12" block starter set. I'm really tempted to buy it but it seems that whenever I do buy something the price gets better soon after.

I saw this too and i think it is a good price IF you will use all of the dies it includes. I ordered mine from them last week and just bought specifically what I wanted and would use right now...the machine itself, a sew specific dies, and two extra mats and spent right at $300.00. I do not use the cut triangles that much so they would not be something I would really want, especially right now. Sew For Less had the lowest price of the machine I have found, and I have been looking for a while. They had fast shipping as well. I live in central Texas and ordered on Wednesday afternoon, they shipped from St. Louis and it arrived via FedEx Saturday! The folks here on the Board are where I found out about sew afor aless and their products, service, etc!

www.quilting-warehouse.com is where I bought mine. They have free shipping. I didn't get all the dies mentioned in the set you are looking at, but Joanne's has them on sale sometimes. They also have great prices on dies. Make sure you order the one that says "smoother rolling action" (or something similar to that) to get the latest version.

I have one of the first Go machines. Comparing mine to the new ones now, there is a big difference. Mine is heavier and very smooth cutting. The first dies are different too. I wish the Go stayed as it was and not made cheaper.

Great prices for both. I bought just my Go machine over a year ago when it was on sale at JoAnn's for $199.00. Most of the included dies sell for a minimum of $18-$25 each.

For $329, that's a great price.

Thanks, I've been looking at them for awhile. I was thinking no taxes and free shipping might make it worthwhile. I know how to precut fabric to get the least waste and all that. I used one a few times before. I have to convince my dh that this is good investment and not just something I'll play with for a little bit and sit it on the shelf. We both tend to be very frugal and run all major purchases by each other before we splurge.

In my opinion, it's a very good price. However, what you need to look at is the exact size and type of the dies that come with it.

It *sounds* great to have a variety of shapes to make 12" squares. However, I know that I would not use most of those dies. I tend to prefer to make other types of quilts -- such as log cabin, smaller size blocks than 12", tumbler, hunter's star, etc. I would have no use for the rectangle since it is very easy for me to cut rectangles with the equipment I have. For me, this would be a much less of a "good buy" since I would be paying for dies that I would need to store but wouldn't use.

I do think tax-free and free shipping make the deal much more attractive. Are you sure you won't be charged tax, though? It's a state-by-state thing now but also depends on location of the company. I know I get charged tax from many online stores that did not used to collect tax (including Amazon).

I ordered from sewforless last week also. I got the cutter and 5", 2 1/2 strip, and 2 1/4 dies. Fast shipping. I didn't think that I would use all the dies that came in a bundle so just ordered what I knew that I would use.

It looks like a good deal..I got mine on sale at Joann's for $199 and I buy the dies on sale there..usually 25% off a couple of times a year. The dies I use the most are strip cutters and those are about $70 each..I didn't see those in the list of what you would be getting so you would need to decide if you would use those dies. I have some that are not even opened yet but I couldn't resist the sale!
