Happy camper

My precious, oldish and not the best model Bernina needs a tune-up and going over badly. I usually take it to a dealer 30 min away, and it has been a couple of years since I had what I thought was a good going over. I clean it as much as I can often, but the feed dogs stopped working, it's time for a major service. WELL, I was doing an internet search to see if there was Bernina servicer any closer, and lo and behold, one is right around the corner who is a retired Bernina Mechanic, He taught classes to the people that service and put together Bernina's. I was a little nervous and skeptical at first but went to his shop yesterday and he gave me some amazing eye opening info about my machine. Anyway to make a long story longer , he is going to replace a part of two with better materials, he said if I continue having tension problems, I can just run it over anytime. I'm thrilled. I think this first visit with at least one new part will be pricey, but I have a feeling it will be more than worth it. I am so excited. It's been awhile since my machine had run smoothly, I've waited way too long but I probably would not have found him if I had just taken it to where I always do when it's time. Whooooo-hoooo. I can't wait to get it back.

How great to have someone so close and with such a perfect background.

A trustworthy machine repairman is as valuable as a trustworthy car repairman.

If he's good, you'll likely get far better service from him than from the people that sewing machine stores tend to hire these days....

I hope it goes well, it sounds like it will be positive. It is amazind what the older machines will put up with and still keep going. I hope it is not too expensive but at least he is close.

I'm so lucky that my dealer also has an amazing service department. The shop is reasonably close and I never have issues with their work. I'm glad you found a good service person close to you. When I purchase a machine I also want to know that they also have a great service department. Worth the weight in gold!

Will he give you service lessons too? I would really like to feel more confident trouble shooting my machine. Will he do lessons on youtube?

It's always a good feeling when you can basically step out your back door to get things done! Good for you!

Nothing better than a repair person who knows their stuff and you can trust.
