If you had the choice, what would you choose (fabric question)
For the same price would you choose
a set of 33 fat quarters consisting of 1 fat quarter of every fabric in the line or... a set of 8 one-yard pieces (no choice but it is a pre-made pack so I can see the fabrics in it) plus two more yards of my choice. So no more than 10 different fabrics but more of each one. |
Depends on what type of project(s) you have in mind.......both sound enticing! :)
|
yeah...it would depend on what you want to do with it.
i must say i would be nervous about both though. with the fat quarter pack you have a little of lots of different fabrics. i would probably end up buying yardage for a border to tie it together anyway. with the other, you have just 1 yard of a few, and again you would be constrained in your pattern choice by that. BUT! if you have patterns in mind, buy for those! aileen |
No pattern in mind. I have a gift certificate and there's a certain fabric line that I like. I just am not sure what is more versatile down the road. When it comes right down to it, it probably doesn't matter. Whatever I end up with, I'll find a use for it. I just overthink things sometimes.

I don't know what I would do... probably the yardage because less choice of fabric. with 33 different fat quarters I would overthink it also (too much choice, and too little of each).. I think loll

fat quarter bundle, can never have to much variety!
|
i prefer yardage cuts
|
With fat quarters you get 8 1/4 yards versus the 10 yards with the 8 yard pack plus two yards. Depends on what you are doing with it.
|
I think I would prefer yardage. I was given a lovely gift of 40 fat quarters from a single line, but I'm struggling to find a pattern that makes use of most of it. Most patterns use a few fat quarters plus several extra yards of fabric.
|
Maybe my math is wrong but when I went to school 33 fat quarters equals 8 1/4 yards. But 8 one yard pieces plus 2 yards of your choice equals 10 yards. You said they were both for the same price. Sounds like the one yard pieces would be the better deal.
