What a deal

Last Saturday hubby and I went to an estate sale. This lovely older lady had died and family was selling all of her things . Never thought I would find such wonderful deals She had all of her fabric safety kept in plastic tots There were 4 big blue tot so full that you could close the lid I got all of those for $2.50 each. Then on to batting, I now have 4 medium grey plastic tots and on big tot full of quit batting most of it is unopened. I got all of the batting for $1.00 When they got to the furniture she had a Neeckie sewing machine in its beautiful cabinet, no one would even bid on it so I did I got it for $1.00 all total I spent $10.50. After I got home I went through all of the tots I took out everything I wanted, and took the rest to my neighbor who does quilting for her local church (This group of quilter's make quilts and send them to people who have be in some form of disaster) As my neighbor put it they just need a little hug from someone who caries and these quilts do that.

Wow, I can think of no greater gift than to think that my "stash" would move on and be used by someone else. Her care in putting them in totes for protection I think means she cared that they were preserved. I know in my area of older quilters families totally throwing out the "sewing junk". Never thinking that someone can use them. Congrats on your windfall, and good for you for donating what you couldn't use.

Don't mean to be negative but I would rather give it all away than sell it for $1 a tote. My son knows I will haunt him if he ever disrespects me and my hobby.

Congratulations! You participated in a win/win deal. Enjoy!

I think that quilter would be proud you are the owner of her valued items, and have such respect. What you paid is moot , its the value you place on them in their use.

Well they did in fact "give it away" with a small token for their time. At least this gift will touch many others.

At least this old quilter's treasures have a new good home...
