My Hexies WIP

3 Attachment(s)
Pulled this out to start working on it again and see what else needs done. Only had my cell phone so the pictures aren't the best.

This is hand sewn using Mylar templates and using Brandy's method. All the hexies are fusy cut. This one has a picket fence in it. The center Hexie is the center of the flower, then the flower, the leaves, the white is the path going through the garden and the red is the picket fence. I live in So. California - everyone has a fence around their yard here! ha ha

Gorgeous! It looks like your picket fence diamonds are fussy cut too.

Very lovely. I don't think I ever have seen one with a picket fence in it. I am off to go look at her method and see if the instructions are there. This is just so pretty.

Thank you for the link to her website. I watched the video on the hexies, but didn't see the part about where it shows how to make your red picket fence. I'll watch it again later and see if I missed it. Your quilt looks so beautiful so far and I can't wait to see the completed quilt.

Just finished quilting a flower garden with a garden path in April. The quilt was from the 50s or 60s. Anyway, our local quilt historian said this pattern was popular before the 40s and not seen much after that time. Glad to see someone has brought it back. Before you quilt it, check out Greta Gama's website. She does a wonderful job quilting hexagons. You've done a wonderful job piecing by the way.

Thank you for the information about this type of quilt. I often say I am from a different time. I could have lived in the 40's or 50's just fine. Oh, wait. No internet, right? No cellular phones? No YOUTUBE TUTORIALS? I don't THINK so. :):)
