Help needed to resize quick quilt pattern

I have used this pattern http://www.quiltmaker.com/patterns/details.html?idx=184 in the past - Anita Grossman Solomon's fantastic Super Size 9 Patch but am wanting to do something similar in a larger lap and twin size quilts. I am sure there is just some mathematical magic to enlarge this quilt (which is why I am struggling) but can't manage to come up with a method. Can anyone help?

It looks as though the large center rectangle is about 2x as tall as the rows above/below. I would decide what you want for a finished size, divide that in 2 to get the height of the center, then divide the rest of it in half. Same thing for the width.

For instance, if you want it about 60x80, you could make the center 30x40, 2 pcs 20x30 (top/bottom), 2 pcs 15x40 (sides) and the corners 15x20. I did not add seam allowances, but if you are flexible with the size, you could just cut as is. With this type of pattern, you can be very flexible with your sizes.

I think your problem stems from the size of the quilt wanted versus the width of the fabric used. Most quilt fabric is approximately 42 inches wide. But a twin sized quilt would be about 65 inches wide by about 85 inches long. If you want 3 fabrics, I would then cut the main fabric piece 40 inches wide by 60 inches long. I would then take the second fabric and cut two pieces 13 wide by 60 long and two pieces 13 wide by 40 long. Then I would take the third fabric and cut the cornerstones 13 by 13 inches. These are all approximations and I didn't bother adding seam allowances but it should give you an idea of what you need.

Fabric requirement would be main colour 1 3/4 yards, second colour 2 1/4 yards and cornerstone colour 3/4 yard. These are all rough estimates and do not include binding.
