Janome Memory Craft 6500P - Opinions?
 

Does anyone have this machine that would be able to give me any reviews on it?

Between the money I'm getting from photographing a wedding this weekend and my annual raise bonus, I'm shopping for a new machine. I really love my current Janome and that's why I'm looking at the MC-6500P.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I also have the 6600P and I love it. There are some small differences I think between it and the 6500, but I couldn't tell you what they all are. Shank length for one and I think the walking foot style. There is a yahoo Group forum for Janome 6500/6600's you could check out for some feedback too. Price point is reasonable for all that they do and the quality.

I had the 6500 for 10 years and loved it. Never had a problem. I recently upgraded to the 7700 and I have to say the dual feed foot is the best invention since sliced bread.

I am sure the 6500 is a good machine.
However, when I bought my 6600, it was superior to the 6500 and there was no way I would consider the 6500 when I compared the two.
Since then the 8200 which has improved considerably on the 6600.

So IMHO ... I would skip the 6500 and go to at least the 6600. Price wise, you should be able to get the 6600 at a very reasonable price because many are now upgrading to the 8200 or go directly to it. While finances may be a concern, if you can swing the 8200, go for it! I've heard some getting incredible deals on it, despite its newness! :)

Exactly my thoughts....the built in walking foot is amazing!

I bought the Janome 6500 in May 2004 and had numerous problems with it. The company finally replaced it and although this machine was better, it still has its issues and pecularities. It was the most expensive and the worst machine that I ever bought. As a result, I wouldn't even consider buying another Janome. I now have a Juki which sews rings around my Janome.

I love my 6600. I am so glad that I bought it.. it was worth every penny. I don't know what changed moving from the 6500 to the 6600... and I don't know how much money you want to spend either.... but if you have the $$ and are going to sew you won't be sorry if you buy the 6600. The only thing that I would change about the 6600 is the bed of the machine. I can't get sleeves or skinny pants over the bottom to sew on them. Some machines have a piece that pulls off to allow the smaller sleeves but this machine doesn't. Luckily I don't do much of that stuff :)
