OK, I'm stumped
 

How do you put the walking foot and the seam guide on the PQ1500 at the same time? Is it even possible? Sort of fits by putting seam guide on the front side, but I didn't trust it. These are what came with the machine. The walking foot doesn't have the pressure fit hole for a seam guide so I can't finagle the Pfaff's guide.

I have an older Bernina which you have to get the correct angle for the foot and the level to fit but isn't there anything telling you how to attach the foot in the sewing machine manual??

If your walking foot doesn't have a hole for the seam guide perhaps it's not meant to be used with one. I have several machines and corresponding after market walking feet for them and some of them have the seam guide and hole and some don't. I also have a hole in my machine for the guide when I use regular feet. I rarely use the seam guide as it gets dislodged when I'm wrestling the quilt around so I can't rely on its accuracy. I also find it very distracting to know where to look - the seam guide or the needle - when I'm sewing if the space is too far apart.

I have the Brother 1500 and have no idea what you are talking about. :eek:

This is a walking foot with a guide. Most of these are made for low shank. I am spoiled by my Pfaff which has built in walking foot, and a guide that fits in the ankle. I hunted around on Startpage all morning and could find nothing.
The heavy duty 1500 does better with quilting. A lot of books recommend a walking foot for straight line quilting, and a guide helps - far cleaner than marking or tape.

I used the Pfaff's guide quite a bit - from rows of spaced embroidery stitches to quilting. The harp on the Pfaff is too small, and foot pressure and tension are controlled electronically.

My walking foot for my Brother 1500s does not have a guide, my Bernina does, I have to change machines when I think I need the guide to keep quilting lines an equal distance apart.. So to send the bad new. :(

The seam guide fits on the screw that holds the walking foot on. The screw that came with it seemed to short to hold it well, so I just put in a longer screw. Everything works just dandy.

Just put your walking foot on your machine and then snap the guide on .

My walking foot didn't have the hole for the guide, so I purchased a generic walking foot that fit my machine that did have a hole.

Bingo - Thanks. I was wondering if anyone had drilled a hole in the back of the plastic case or found a way to hook another guide up. Don't the makers of high shank single stitch machines think we don't need or want guides for the walking foot?

Janome might have one for their machine, but it isn't the type that also fits Brother and Juki.
