Another kind of vintage re-do

I re-made a tomato pincushion today. I had a nasty stained one I picked up at a yard sale for 10 cents to re-cover but I decided to take it apart and see how it's made. It's a basic tube of fabric gathered and secured well at each end and sawdust in the middle.
Have you ever lost your needle inside your pin cushion? Well, when I went to put the old sawdust into my new cushion I found 27 needles that had been lost inside! Here's my fresh new tomato. |
Holy Moly! 27 needles! Really?!?! Good thing you were paying attention to what you were doing, huh? Now I wonder how many needles are in my pin cushion.

Can you do a tutorial how to make it?
|
Yes, please tell us how you made it - your new one looks great! I would love to make a bunch for gifts :)

Miriam, that's a wonderful idea! I've come up with some so-called "brilliant" (with tongue-in-cheek) ideas. Some of them work out okay and some don't! LOL! It's just the breaks! The pin cushion is beautiful! And, yes, I bet I've got a "few" needles in mine, too! My potholder pattern worked out pretty well, if I could just do better handwork!

Terrific pin cushion!

:D Thank you! I will try to put the info together on how to do it later. Luckily I took some pics while I was doing it too. *Gotta check out a yard sale this morning!
