Creative uses for quilting tools in the kitchen

i went to help at church last week;cooking for the annual Greek Festival.
They were struggling to figure out how to cut the Spanakopita into regular sizes that were consistent.
I run to JAF and bought a quilting ruler and the template for cutting strips that has the cutting lines for the rotary cutter ( i can't remember the name right now). It worked great other than the template sticking to the phylo dough that was already buttered. Next the Baklava

a seam ripper works good to open some packages. The rotary cutter IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR A PIZZA CUTTER. I already know that. Not tall enough. The cutter itself gets hung up in the cheese.

Good idea on the even dough cutters.

I intend to try baklava one of these days. making, already know how to eat it.

I used my quilting ruler to make uniform pieces of fondant for this cake.

Ha Ha. We are usually looking for kitchen tools to use in quilting instead of quilting tools to use in the kitchen. Love the cake.

Oh, love that cake. Am thinking about taking a cake decorating class at the local college. I can bring them ideas from the quilting board. Yeah.

I don't really like the shape cut ruler but I can see that would be a good use for it.

Good job on the table cloth, BUT I love the grill! THE WEBER GRILL!

I used my 6x24 ruler to cut vinyl plank for the kitchen. Probably should also have used the rotary cutter to cut it,

hehe. I have used my sewing scissors to cut twine to tie up Thanksgiving turkey when I couldn't find my kitchen shears. Paper scissors are totally shot. They can barely handle cutting paper. :P
