Scissors for Rag Quilt?
What scissors do you recommend to use when snipping a rag quilt. The only one I made I used Fiskars spring loaded. Is there a better pair out there? I'm making at least 3 rag quilts and am attempting to save my hand!
TIA! |
I got the small Fiskars with the spring to clip mine. Not the long ones for cutting fabric.

I've made many rag quilts. Initially I didn't even know about Fiskars rag quilt snips. Once I found out about them, I haven't looked back! Mine say they are for heavy-duty cutting. I absolutely LOVE them! Good luck!

Heritage Rag Snips are the best and I've used every brand. The Fiskars are okay but the spring is not very strong. Heritage snips have a thick strong spring that opens the scissors smooth and fast. The blades are very sharp too.

I agrree with Heritage Rag Snips, expensive but well worth the cost.
|
I agree totally about rag quilt snips.

I use a cheap, large seam ripper. Insert the ripper just above the stitching line and rip up. Does a great job and really saves the hands.

The ripper is a good idea and you won't snip into stitching.

Thanks ladies! The seam ripper I think would "scare" me.......I'm going to look into the Heritage scissors.
